Its coloration is often influenced by impurities present during its formation. The crystals can be transparent to translucent, with a vitreous to pearly luster. It commonly occurs as botryoidal (rounded, globular masses resembling a bunch of grapes) or reniform (kidney shaped) aggregates. It can also form crusts, stalactites, and stalagmites.
