UK personnel are now authorised to wear the medal and it is to be treated as a campaign medal and worn in date of qualification
The medal was approved by King George VI who died before the medal was finalised
including civilian medical practitioners
It was possible to be awarded the Naval GSM EIIR with 8 first award clasps:-
EFFICIENCY DECORATION GVI European Union Medals Bars were awarded for aAwarded to commissioned officers in the Territorial Army for 20 years service, service in the ranks counting for half and war service for double. In 1949 the qualifying time was dropped to 12 years with bars awarded for every 6 years service.
